Vietnam Tourism Advisory Board
Mr. Miquel Angel P. Martorell is the head of the Human Resources & Quality Working Group at the Vietnam Tourism Advisory Board supporting the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Vietnam, as well as the General Manager of Oakwood Apartments Ho Chi Minh City since September 2017.
A Catalonian citizen, Mr. Miquel Angel had been working and living in Vietnam since 1999, always linked to tourism and hospitality for several hotels and companies.
The governance activities at the VTAB involved to human resources and quality are wide in Vietnam and affecting the tourism sector in full, from hospitality projects to airlines, from DMC’s to travel companies, transportation and training.
Manpower in Vietnam is a sensitive topic for the sector, from VTAB we are supporting in terms of trainings, guidelines, alignment to ASEAN qualification framework, re-shape of actual workers in several institutions as well as proposal & advisory roles to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and different ministries involved on tourism.
Regular topics in our agendas are related to destination marketing, to visa regulation and improvement, airport development or hospitality regulations among others, always searching professionals to join our regular talks.
Absolute Hotel Services Group
Jonathan has spent most of his life in Asia as his family called Hong Kong home where they had a business in the fashion industry. After schooling in the United Kingdom and then Switzerland he returned to Hong Kong to start his career in the hotel sector after choosing not to enter his family’s business but to chart his own path.
Jonathan has accumulated over 30 years of leadership experience in the hospitality industry, working for international hotel chains including Marriott, Hilton, Omni Group of Hotels, Delta Hotels, Minor International to the Landmark Hotel Group. During this time Jonathan was based in Hong Kong, Vietnam and Thailand but his work enabled him to spend working time in Indonesia, Laos, Cambodia, India, Maldives, Sri Lanka, the Middle East and Europe Prior the foundation of Absolute Hotel Services Group, Jonathan was Vice President of Operations/Sales for Minor International hotel division.
Jonathan founded the Absolute Hotel Services Group in 2008 together with the BTS Group headquartered in Bangkok, Thailand. Absolute Hotel Services Group and related partners have a portfolio of over 100 properties in 12 countries under the U Hotels & Resorts, Eastin Grand Hotels, Eastin Hotels & Residences, Easy Easy, Travelodge Asia and Vienna House brands as well as owning a Golf/Leisure and Recreation Management Business, Absolute Golf & Leisure Services.
Jonathan approach is to be honest, direct and brave always looking for opportunities where the Absolute Hotel Services Group can add value to partners and clients for the long term.
Director of Hospitality
Rome holds 2 nationalities (British-Thai) and MA in Hospitality Management Degree from Birmingham University, the United Kingdom, and BA from Erasmus University Brussels, Belgium. He began his career at Holiday Inn, where he spent 3 years learning about hospitality. He then had strong determination to become a success hotel general manager, and spent 20 years in the world of hotels industry, first with Holiday Inn, Canada, Accor Hotels, Belgium Thailand and the United Kingdom, Absolutely Hotels, South East Asia, and Destination Properties, South East Asia, and the USA. He went on to work as receptionist in a start-up for Holiday Inn, Canada, he joined hospitality exchange program in 2000-2006 and notably served as a Hotel General Manager for one of the best countryside independent Hotel & Resort in West Midland, UK, subsequently the corporate level, before his turning to a director of Hospitality for the owning company, like MIK Group Vietnam.
He was appointed to the Absolutely Hotel Services as Group Training Manager in 2014, in 2016, he was appointed to Destination Properties as Vice President Operations and Human Resource, and in charge as director of hospitality in South East Asia and the USA.
Chief Operating Officer
Atilla became part of the Fusion family in 2015, joining them as Chief Operating Officer after relocating from Thailand where he was Senior Vice President of sales & business development with Absolute Hotel Services.
Boasting an impressive background in sales, Atilla brings with him a wealth of experience in global hospitality management, having held executive positions in Asia and Europe prior to joining the Fusion team. His previous roles include group director of sales with Marriott & Anantara in Thailand and vice president of sales for Franklyn Hotels & Resorts in Spain.
